Martín Chirino remains faithful to his appointment with ARCO in 2023, with the presence of several pieces, with Marlborough Madrid.

At ARCOmadrid 2023, Marlborough proposes a dialogue between new artists, Anderson Barbata and Pérez Monzón, and two classics from the gallery, Soledad Sevilla and Martín Chirino.
The presence of Martín Chirino will have the imposing force of the Alfaguara (2005-2017), a spectacular wrought iron sculpture, and the evocative Raíz. Architecture of the wind (2004).
In the words of the gallery: "Martín Chirino (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1925 - Madrid, 2019) developed a constant interest in the elements and forces of nature, such as wind, water, fire, based on languages close to archaic and primitive sculpture from a more refined and stylized formality. For the occasion, it will be possible to see, among others, the monumental sculpture Alfaguara (from the Arabic "abundant spring that arises with violence") as a representation of water, its birth and its course. The use of wrought iron serves here to play with a rigid and dense material that evokes a variable and unpredictable flow through curves and countercurves that refer to an ancient lyricism nourished by indigenous elements." Its iconographic value serves as a connecting thread between the different artists that the gallery is taking to the fair this year.
