On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the artist Martín Chirino, the CajaCanarias Foundation, together with the Martín Chirino Art and Thought Foundation and the Cervantes Institute of Rome, organizes the Martín Chirino exhibition. The Iron Sculptor, an exhibition that, curated by the Martín Chirino and Alejandro Togores Art and Thought Foundation, pays tribute to one of the most important intellectuals committed to the arts of the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.

The selection of pieces includes works from different stages, materials and techniques, which allows us to obtain a broad vision of an artist whose art, influenced by the aboriginal symbology of the Canary Islands, has no limits in terms of creative capacity. From sculptures to drawings and engravings, Martín Chirino. The Iron Sculptor stars some of his most recognized series: Winds, Trades, Heads, Landscapes and Aerovores. The exhibition is accompanied by a selection of photographs by Alejandro Togores, a great friend of Chirino. Made between 1971 and 2018, the images offer the opportunity to learn about the sculptor's creative processes, his work spaces or his fascination with art. In short, its most honest and real version. Under the premise of being able to continue enjoying his art, and with the commitment to continue sharing it with society, this exhibition is organized in celebration of the hundred years since the birth of the iron sculptor.
