XII Semana de la Arquitectura COAGC

The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Architecture Week, taking place from October 2 to 9, invites open reflection on the future of the contemporary city and its capacity for transformation. In a context where urban science is evolving toward models that are more complex and responsive to the unique characteristics of each territory, the city is no longer viewed merely as a physical construct but rather as an experiential, cultural, and emotional space.

From this perspective, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria stands out as a paradigmatic case within the Atlantic region: a diverse, fragmented coastal city where elements such as the port, La Isleta, the hillside neighborhoods (riscos), and major urban corridors form a living laboratory of future possibilities. The initiative proposes viewing the city as an open, collective project—one capable of adapting to contemporary challenges and projecting a shared vision toward the horizon of 2050.

The event thus invites architects, urban planners, institutions, and the general public to debate and generate new ideas regarding the urban model we wish to inhabit, recognizing architecture and urban planning as fundamental tools for envisioning the future of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
