Summer Workshops

On the occasion of the exhibition “Martín Chirino, Winds. A spiral path towards the origin” During the months of July and September 2023, the Foundation offers its summer workshops of plastic expression to delve into the work of the artist Martín Chirino. We relate the artistic creation of the sculptor and the cultural heritage of the Canary Islands through different activities. On this occasion we will focus on his series of sculptures "El Viento", since this summer we have the opportunity to enjoy the aforementioned temporary exhibition dedicated to this series of sculptures at the Foundation.
DEVELOPMENT AND PROCEDURE OF THE WORKSHOPS
There will be a guided visit to the Castillo de Luz to learn about the historical legacy of the architectural heritage of our city, as well as the permanent exhibition of the legacy of the Canarian sculptor. Then we will proceed to visit the temporary exhibition "Martín Chirino, Winds. A spiral path to the origin ” to immerse ourselves in the creative atmosphere of the artist focusing on the connection between the spiral, which the artist understands as an Atlantic sign, nature and the Canary Islands by observing the works of influential and different artists pieces by the artist that make up this exhibition. Once both exhibitions have been visited, the open-air workshop will be carried out with different activities that allow the appreciation of cultural heritage, the development of creativity and sensitivity towards art, the encouragement of respect for nature and other cultures, through experimentation with various techniques and materials. We propose our workshop inspired by the creation of masks and African art in relation to the temporary exhibition and it will be organized as follows according to the techniques to be used: We encourage families and groups from different fields and social and professional groups to participate in the workshops with a playful nature and in a relaxed atmosphere.
JUNE
20 to 23 - Sculpture workshop with traditional Canarian clay
27 to 30 – painting workshop with the stencil technique.
JULY
4 to 7 - Sculpture workshop with traditional Canarian clay.
11 to 14 - painting workshop with the stencil technique.
18 to 21 - Sculpture workshop with traditional Canarian clay.
25 to 28 - wire sculpture workshop and drawing activity.
SEPTEMBER
5 to 8 – sculptural construction workshop with cardboard.
12 to 15 - Sculpture workshop with traditional Canarian clay.
Hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Program: Visit at 10 a.m., 30-minute break and workshop between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Price: €5/person.
Capacity: 30 people.
Pre-registration is required to attend any of our activities. It will be necessary to send an email indicating the date, the number of participants and the ages.
