Throughout history, and through various cultures, humanity has used masks for different uses and functions. Martín Chirino, Julio González or Picasso were some artists who used this element in their works. In this workshop we will learn about the influence of masks in the work of Martín Chirino, we will make our own mask with recycled materials to promote a creative way of approaching other cultures, and develop tolerance and respect for diversity.
The workshops take place at the DEAC space, in the Castle Gardens. The maximum number of participants in the activity are 15 and the minimum age is 3 years old.
Discover Art with Chirino
The family specific activities should be approached from the right perspective, given the complexities of families and their relation to museums and Heritage. Guided tours and workshops are perfect to initiate a journey of Art discovery. Focused on the works of the sculptor that are permanently inside the Castle, you will discover the diverse meanings of a work of art depending on the perspective.
Are we sure about what we see when we look at a sculpture? We want to help families discover things that you sometimes miss at first glance. We will look from every angle and in different ways. In this activity we invite you to observe and enjoy Art in a different way, focusing on the technical details or from a different approach: the emotional characteristics and the narrative.
Creating with Chirino
the Artistic Expression workshops are based in different techniques, from modeling with traditional Canarian clay working with recycled materials, using stencils with natural colors made from the island rocks, or modeling with plaster.
