Next Wednesday, May 6, at 11:30 a.m., at the Castillo de la Luz, the book “Manolo Millares: The Painter of Burlap” will be presented. This book is part of the Nuestros Ilustres (Our Illustrious Figures) collection of stories, edited and published by the Acuorum Foundation. The presentation will be given by Eva Moll de Alba, president of the Acuorum Foundation, and Jesús M. Castaño, director of the Martín Chirino Foundation for Art and Thought.

This initiative is part of the educational and cultural projects that the Acuorum Foundation carries out in the Canary Islands, aiming to introduce schoolchildren to the biographies of the figures who have shaped the history of the islands.

This work is dedicated to the Gran Canarian artist Manolo Millares, one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Spanish art and an international reference for his innovative use of burlap as an artistic medium. The publication also coincides with the centenary of his birth, joining the initiatives that commemorate and celebrate his artistic legacy and his contribution to contemporary culture. Through an accessible and engaging format, the story introduces his life and work to children, fostering an interest in art and culture from an early age.
