The Martín Chirino Foundation, with the support of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council and Promotion of the City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, grants the artistic residency to Abraham Riverón's project

Last Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the jury of the Martín Chirino Artistic Residency agreed by majority to grant residency to the Argamasa project, by Abraham Riverón. The jury was formed by Marta Chirino Argenta (President of the Martín Chirino Art and Thought Foundation), Juan José Espino Durán (Head Architect of the Cultural Service of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council), Fernando Castro Flórez (Professor of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts of the UAM, philosopher, esthete, curator and art critic) and Jesús M. Castaño (Director of the Martín Chirino Art and Thought Foundation). In its deliberation, the jury points out that each of the proposals presented has particular positive aspects that were highlighted during the deliberations, although it was considered that some proposals responded more adequately to the set of expectations from different points of view. Likewise, he wanted to highlight the high quality of the proposals presented, making the selection process very complex. Regarding the winning project, the jury stated: "The presentation of it is honest, clear, and aesthetically careful, providing documentation in images of similar experiences, wanting to highlight its double aspect of a research project faithful to the texture and matter of the work of Martín Chirino, as well as with the space that houses it, the Castillo de la Luz, and its walls. The project, after the previous study and investigation, will give fruit to the production of artistic works that have to do with the historical, sculptural and conceptual character of the buildings and their elements. It will be experimented with the materiality and form present in the spaces.”
